Update #4 (March 18, 2020): COVID-19 Update and Resources

I would like to provide us with some inspiration and courage for this morning as serious conversations are being had at all levels of our church and within our country. Feel free to share any and all information with your congregations that has been and will be shared with you as it pertains to our Conference.

Remember, Joshua 1:9 tells us, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Update #2 (March 16, 2020): COVID-19 News Update: School Closure

Please find attached the following Maritime Conference Education department Release, pursuant to the Nova Scotia Health Authority and Province of Nova Scotia's decision yesterday afternoon to close all schools in Nova Scotia. In the Statement made yesterday, the idea is to get out in front of the virus, stopping its spread. We have a preventative opportunity that some of the other provinces no longer have, as our case numbers are very low still.

I refer to some excellent Resource Sites in the attached Release - please see them for further information.

Let us continue to pray for God's leading as we respond with precautionary measures to protect our children.

Update #1 (March 13, 2020): Dear Church Employee/Member/Friend:

The Bible has powerful messages for every occasion. God wants us to live a healthy life. “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1 (NASB)

The risk of coronavirus has reached us here in the Maritimes and this is a concern for all of us. However, we should not allow this to create an atmosphere of fear and instability amongst us. We need the balance of faith and common sense precautions during this time.

This is a time to heed “down to earth, simple” precautions to safeguard our personal health.

Please consider the following documents:

  1. COVID-19 Maritime Conference-Internal Release: (Click to Download)
  2. COVID-19: (Click to Download)
  3. Video: Prevent the Spread of Disease (Click to Watch)

The 1st document is our Official Conference Press Release, the 2nd document is a great visual information sheet and the final is a video from Adventist Risk Management concerning COVID-19. These three items should be posted/shown in our churches this Sabbath. There are extra Resources for reading and viewing on the Conference Press Release document for your greater knowledge and understanding.

We are putting all our churches and institutions on vigilant watch for any further updates to be released on our website. For now, churches may proceed as scheduled for this Sabbath, but please take all precautionary measures as outlined in our Conference Press Release.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping these three Provinces safe as together we follow simple guidelines and pray for God's protection!
